When the clutch fires the engine suddenly jerks the belt which "pulls" the belt back towards the engine causing the deck pulleys to rotate. If anything prevents this FREE rotation, then the belt will pull the deck backwards towards the engine pulley causing the deck to shudder Nettet18. jun. 2015 · These bolts keep the belt from falling off the pulley when the lever is thrown the opposite way. The added slack would allow the belt to fall off if the bolts weren't positioned next to the pulley to prevent it. After mowing about 100 feet, I noticed that the drive pulley was slipping out and the belt was about to slip off. Second,check the tension spring on the deck,to make sure it hasn't broken/disconnected.
