My second question is can you life with independant sockets for the 240V for the inverter as this makes it easier wiring. I beleive that there are a number of members that have done this. It just provides a cleaner, uninterrupted power supply to run sensitive equipment such as TV's, computers, etc. I may be wrong, but under this assumption a 3000 watt inverter should run your welder (maybe even better than a regular generator).
